wow that little bit of animation im sure took you awhile to complete i could tell you put a lot of effort into this and it looks great. my animations are defiantly not as clean as yours because i just use the brush tool a lot but now im for sure gonna use the line for more cleaner animations great stuff statis
Neato =] Not bad for a first! Very nicely coloured too. You'd do well in cleanup art, something I clearly need to work on ! haha
The one thing that really looks odd though is the leg that bends. If a leg bends and he's standing upright, the body weight must shift over the bending leg, else it looks like the leg is getting longer XD
Also as Leviathan pointed out, the spin looks weak, there needs to be a stronger anticipation- the extreme pose that he would adopt before he rolls forward/jumps, whichever it happens to be- and a bit more action to the ball-roll maneouver i.e one or two inbetweens of him actually curling up into a ball. Experiment and have fun with it, just remember to stay loose and squashy-stretchy with your poses.
Thanks, Jackie. Yes, I know about the bending leg thing lol I tried to correct it in flash, but it looked poo so I left it. Practice makes perfect though so I will remember for next time.
As for the spin, I was going to have him jump in to the air and have him land while punching the ground with force. Didn't get that far though. Oh well, I've a day off tomorrow so I could add to it.
My main problem is poses. I'm going have to dig out my wooden man (ergonome?) to help I think.
Thanks I can't believe how much easier it is to frame by frame on paper rather than in flash. All I need to do now is start a project using my new found techniques.
And that wooden man thing, we called it an ergonome in Graphics Design, but looking on google it seems it's also known as a mannequin, so we're both right
All I'm doing right now is drawing the same poses over and over so that I memorize them, and then I can move on to another pose. Thanks for the input.
I agree, on Flash it can be such a mess. The brush tool is really annoying for me. That and it jacks up filesizes apparently. It can be fun sometimes but it 'breaks', wobbles or distorts a lot when you try to do it small or smallish, and when it's big you can't go over it in pencil accurately. -.- Either that or I've still a fair bit to learn on how to use it.
Lol my bad ^_^; That's the only thing I know it as.
You should get yourself a lightbox or something, it'll help a treat with your paper animating, and shouldn't be too expensive (No more than £50 or so), saves you having to memorise poses and instead visualise them for real, as well as how they relate to the other poses or inbetweens. And no problem, always happy to help. ^^
Though a few frames of him from being knelt to standing should be added for extra win!

Hope I helped a bit =]

You mean mannequin. I think that's the spelling, anyway
